Today I am thrilled to share a home yoga sequence video with you from fellow cancer fighter, Aileen Slein.
Aileen is currently going through chemo and wanted to share her favourite immune boosting yoga sequence with all of us here on Happy Magazine.
It’s suitable for everyone, even complete beginners to yoga. Why not give it a try today?
You don’t need any special equipment, just make some space in your living room, grab a few things – Aileen will tell you what you might need – and away you go.
About Aileen
I came to yoga in my twenties, I have congenital scoliosis and from my teenage years had spent a lot of time with orthopedic surgeons and physios. Yoga, specifically Iyengar Yoga with its attention to alignment, allowed me the chance to start to help heal myself.
I qualified as a Hatha Yoga teacher in India in 2006, where I had spent three years studying yoga and philosophy. When I came back to Ireland, I trained as an Iyengar teacher, this took two years and I got my introductory qualification in 2011. I have spent the last nine years developing my practice. I am now a Intermediate 3 teacher.
Yoga for me started as a physical practice but I soon realised that it also brought me it’s real jewel, which is a spiritual practice. It starts from the exterior and brings you inward.
I got diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in September 2019 and since then I have been using my yoga practice to help my body, mind and spirit to cope with the changing world of cancer. The journey continues!
Thank you so much Aileen for recording this yoga sequence for us.
