The difference between self-compassion and self-esteem – a TEDx Talk by Kristin Neff

With January here, it’s easy to lose sight of the importance of self-compassion.

You might be weighing yourself down under all sorts of new resolutions, aims and goals.

Or perhaps those notorious January Blues have found you and you can’t explain why.

Self-compassion is not self-indulgence, rather it can be the very thing that helps you achieve those resolutions and turn them into lasting changes, or the thing to help you chase those blues away.

Today’s post is an insightful TEDx Talk by Dr. Kristin Neff on the difference between self-compassion and self-esteem – and how self-compassion can help us with the experience of life.

If you’re going in for chemo today, or for a hospital appointment, bring along your earphones and have a listen. Or, why not enjoy a cup of tea and twenty minutes to yourself while you listen to this? We know we’ll be putting it on again – it’s really great.

Happy listening.

Kristin Neff’s website, https://self-compassion.org/, is well worth a visit too. There’s a section including some beautiful guided meditations that we will highlight again soon.
