A few years ago the Marie Keating Foundation partnered with Roche on a campaign and a booklet called Out The Other Side: Stories of Breast Cancer Survival.
The initiative aimed to offer encouragement to cancer survivors and also those living with cancer. We felt it was worth re-sharing here on Happy Magazine for all of those going through cancer treatment right now, who may not have seen this a few years ago. If you are in need of some encouragement for your own cancer journey today, we recommend spending some time reading this.
The campaign captured the real-life stories and photographs of ten Irish women who have survived breast cancer. It was initially displayed through a unique exhibition installed in St. Stephen’s Green Park, Dublin, during October 2015, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Following the success of the Dublin exhibition, it was decided to take the campaign around Ireland. The hope was that the stories shared would be a source of comfort and hope to people all over the country at various stages of their cancer journey. It was subsequently displayed in University Hospital Galway and also the Mater Hospital Dublin.
The Marie Keating Foundation and Roche hoped the Out the Other Side initiative would encourage cancer survivors to seek help and support, understand how cancer has affected them and give them the tools to rebuild and enjoy their lives.
