We first wrote about the Rainforest Spa in Enniskerry way back when we first started Happy Magazine. This year they have marked World Cancer Day by pledging to donate 20% of all the spa cancer care services it carries out in 2018 to Purple House Cancer Support in Bray.
Rainforest is Ireland’s first salon or spa in Ireland to be certified as ‘Cancer Aware’. The certification – awarded by global spa directory Spafinder Wellness 365 and standardizing body Wellness for Cancer USA – means that Rainforest is highly-educated in safe holistic cancer care treatments.
These treatments – for men and women – are aimed at easing the pain; discomfort and stress of those who are living with cancer and they can be taken before; during or after their programme of chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
“We took the initiative to undertake further training to become Ireland’s first certified Cancer Aware spa to stop people living with cancer being turned away from stress-relieving services at a time in their lives when they need it most,” said Rainforest owner Adrienne Stewart.
“Our aim is to help those living with the disease on their difficult journey. We believe that alongside medical care, those battling cancer can benefit from the comforting touch of a highly trained therapist. It also gives people the chance to share quality time with loves ones or simply ‘be yourself’ – not a patient – outside of a clinical setting.”
Rainforest Cancer Care treatments are bespoke treatments that are tailored to each clients’ needs and wishes typically including massage; reflexology and facial. Cancer Care treatments are endorsed by the Irish Cancer Society as a beneficial complimentary therapy that go hand-in-hand with – and not a replacement for – conventional medical treatment. Clients are required to get clearance from their medical professional in advance of their treatments.
