You don’t need a complicated diet and fitness plan to get your body feeling well while you’re going through cancer. The following five easy ways to boost your body might seem obvious, but they will make a big impact on your health and wellbeing. Make them all a part of your daily routine and you’ll feel the rewards.
1. Ten deep breaths, morning and evening
Make it a part of your daily routine to breathe ten big, deep breaths first thing in the morning before you start your day, and again last thing at night before you go to bed. Ten deep breaths will have a wonderful calming effect on the body and mind as well as a rejuvenating effect on cells as you give all your systems a boost of life-giving O2.
2. A walk every day
Getting out of the house for a walk can seem like a mammoth undertaking while you are going through treatment. Try get out, even if it’s only for a few minutes. Gradually build your walk up until you are walking for 30 minutes per day. The walk will not only give your body a boost, but your mind too.
3. Cut out processed food
Cut out all the junk from your diet – it will make you feel better! Processed food including sugary cereals, ready meals, soft drinks, cookies and crisps will do your body no favours. Make a return to simple, wholesome foods your grandmother would recognise and your body will definitely thank you for it.
4. Two litres of filtered water every day
It’s important to drink up to two litres of filtered water a day while you are going through chemo or radiotherapy. Keeping your body hydrated will help keep fatigue at bay and help your body to flush toxins out.
5. Eight to ten hours sleep per night
Eight to ten hours sleep per night will help your body rest, repair and regenerate. Make your bedroom an uncluttered place of rest. Change your sheets once a week (yes, once a week! You deserve it) and take five minutes each morning to make your bed so it is ready for you again in the evening. Read, colour or meditate before you turn in to encourage a restful sleep.
And that’s it! Five easy ways to boost your body. How many of these are you already doing? How many of these could you build into your daily routine?
