12 Steps to a More Mindful Life

Today we have a short but meaningful post on mindfulness from Pauline Harley, an Emotional Fitness and Life Coach based in Swords, Co. Dublin. We love this article – it calms us and brings us into the present moment. We hope you enjoy it too.

How can we live a more mindful life? Being present in the moment and more aware of how our emotions and actions affect us and all we do in life. Here are my 12 steps for a more mindful life to consider today.

1. Be present in the moment.

Allow yourself to switch from doing to being.

2. Live on purpose.

You can’t choose your circumstances, but you can choose your response.

3. Know that you always have the choice to change.

You have the power to take back control always.

4. Trust in yourself – you know what is right for you.

Trust your gut.

5. Connect to the wisdom of your body – it will tell you what you need.

We are usually the best consultants in the house when it comes to our mind and bodies.

6. Become aware of your patterns, habits and emotions.

So you can identify triggers that lead to self-doubt and lack of self-compassion.

7. Be curious, not judgmental, about yourself.

Harsh self-judgment closes you down.

8. Take response-ability.

It gives you the ability to choose how you respond.

9. Allow yourself to be a beginner.

What you think you know can get in the way of your ability to see what is there.

10. Learn to accept what is.

Face reality instead of running away. Don’t be a Cleopatra “Queen of Denial.”

11. Pay attention to the present moment.

It is precious and all you’ve got.

12. Be grateful.

The actual path to happiness follows when we begin to appreciate what we have in life.

Do you have any more mindful tips to add to this list?

Perhaps if you decide to apply some of these in your life soon, you can let me know how you get on

Have a wonderful mindful life.
