The Lo-cal Kitchen, Castleknock, Dublin

When you’re on a cancer journey, it can be hard to find a decent café to eat out at. We know you want to eat healthy and you want to know exactly what’s in your food. So, today we want to tell you all about The Lo-cal Kitchen.

LO-CAL SEASONAL GRANOLA
Made with toasted almonds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds, and served with natural yoghurt, mixed berry coulis and
seasonal fruit.

The Lo-cal Kitchen is a café in the heart of Castleknock, next to the Phoenix Park in Dublin. Local husband and wife founder Stephen and Jenny Connolly had a dream to open a café producing an amazing customer experience and using only unrefined and natural, whole ingredients.

LO-CAL FISH TACOS
Corn tortillas with market fresh coley fish and spicy guacamole with red onion and tomato.

As a design team partnership in their previous career they specialised in the design of restaurants and cafés. Jenny took her interests further and studied nutrition before developing the menu for The Lo-cal Kitchen and Steve gained an obsession for coffee. Together they built a team to help develop their dream and they opened in 2014.

LO-CAL CAKES & COFFEE

We love the sound of the Mushroom Rosti – a warm potato rosti topped with a fresh avocado crush and mixed seasonal mushrooms, topped with 2 poached eggs – all for a purse-friendly €7.95. Or how about their famous Snickers Pie – filled with goodness. Made from ground almonds, coconut oil, organic raw maca powder, raw cacao powder, smooth cashew butter, dates, honey and topped with toasted cashew nuts. Yum!

They offer a Super Green soup too – onion, garlic, celery, kale, broccoli, spinach and courgette – and the option to have it in a cup or a bowl and with a slice of brown bread on the side. Options make us happy!

If tea or coffee is your thing – you won’t be disappointed. They even offer Babycino’s for the little ones and Put the Cat Out tea – organic chamomile flower with lime and lavender. And they also have a great selection of smoothies and even Kombucha.

The Lo-cal Kitchen believes that health food should be tasty and accessible to all. They also produce a range of cold pressed juices and juice shots available in convenience stores.

We think their fabulous photos speak for themselves. Why not make a day of it and visit the Phoenix Park for a brisk walk after? We can’t wait to visit!
